Aussie Hoops
Aussie Hoops is an initiative of Basketball Australia and the Australian Sports Commission to establish a National Basketball Program for primary school aged children. The program is player centred, fun focused and affordable to all. Girls and boys; naturally gifted or sporting battler, Aussie Hoops caters for all. It provides opportunities to learn, opportunities to play with friends and opportunities to develop important social skills in a convenient, safe and friendly environment.
The program is designed to:
- Be safe
- Gradually build confidence
- Emphasise involvement
- Develop healthy lifestyles
- Develop a relationship between elite and grass roots basketball
- Create a positive outlook on physical activity
- Be enjoyable for players, teachers, parents and coaches
Trained presenters providing fun filled activity sessions at local schools and the Newcastle Basketball Stadium deliver the program. Whether committed to becoming a champion or just enjoying the sport of basketball, Aussie Hoops will offer appropriate programs to meet all children’s desires.
