The Newcastle Falcons have strengthened their roster heading into the middle stages of the 2026 NBL1 East season, securing the signing of American guard Cha’Vez Woods.
Standing at 6’2”, Woods joins the Falcons from McKendree University, where he established himself as one of the program’s most dangerous offensive weapons with the McKendree Bearcats. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Woods began his basketball journey at Butler Traditional High School before spending two seasons at Kankakee Community College, where he emerged as one of the top junior college guards in the region, earning All-Region honours before transferring to McKendree.
A dynamic and athletic guard, Woods brings versatility on both ends of the floor with his ability to score at all three levels, create off the dribble and defend with intensity. His competitive edge and offensive firepower add another important piece to the Falcons’ backcourt rotation as the club looks to build momentum throughout the season.
Throughout his collegiate career, Woods showed strong progression year-on-year. After averaging 16.0 points per game in his second season at Kankakee, he made a seamless transition to NCAA Division II basketball and continued his development at McKendree, producing multiple standout performances, including a career-best 30-point game during his senior campaign.
Woods is expected to join the Falcons in the coming rounds as the club continues its push through the 2026 NBL1 East season.
