Falcons Sign Mandrell Worthy for 2026 NBL1 East Season

The Newcastle Falcons are excited to announce the signing of American guard Mandrell Worthy ahead of the 2026 NBL1 East season.

Worthy arrives in Newcastle bringing speed, scoring ability and strong leadership to the Falcons backcourt. Known for his ability to create offence, attack the rim and impact the game on both ends of the floor, Worthy adds another dynamic piece to the Falcons roster as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.

Last season, the 6’3” shooting guard averaged 16.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game, continuing to make a major impact at both ends of the floor.

A proven playmaker, Worthy has built a reputation as a high-energy guard capable of controlling the tempo and creating opportunities for both himself and his teammates. His ability to pressure defences, combined with his competitiveness and work rate, makes him an exciting addition to the Falcons lineup.

Falcons Head Coach Josh Morgan said Worthy will bring a strong presence to the Falcons backcourt.

“Mandrell is a tough, competitive guard who can really impact the game on both ends of the floor,” Morgan said.

“He plays with great pace, can create his own shot and puts constant pressure on the defence. We’re excited about what he’ll bring to our group and the leadership he can provide throughout the season.”

The signing continues to build momentum for the Falcons roster as the club prepares for the 2026 NBL1 East season.

Fans can catch the Falcons in action at the 2026 season home opener on Saturday, 28 March, when Newcastle hosts the Norths Bears at Newcastle Basketball Stadium.
