Falcons Sign Local Talent Trace Evans for the remainder of the 2026 NBL1 Season

The Newcastle Falcons are excited to announce the signing of local product and former Lambton High School standout Trace Evans for the 2026 NBL1 East season.

Standing at 6’9”, Evans returns home to Newcastle after an impressive collegiate career in the United States with Seattle Pacific University (SPU). The versatile forward arrives with a wealth of experience, having competed at the NCAA Division II level and established himself as one of the premier front court players in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).

A Newcastle junior representative and Newcastle Hunters product, Evans has continued to develop throughout his college journey, becoming a consistent offensive threat and dominant interior presence. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while earning GNAC Preseason Player of the Year honours and Second Team All-GNAC recognition.

Falcons Head Coach Josh Morgan said the signing is a significant addition for the club.

“Trace is a player we’ve followed closely throughout his journey in the United States. Not only does he bring size and skill to our front court, but he understands what it means to represent Newcastle. We’re excited to welcome him home and believe he’ll make an immediate impact on our program.”

Evans’ return strengthens the Falcons’ roster with a player capable of scoring inside, stretching the floor and creating opportunities for teammates. Across his time at Seattle Pacific, he developed into one of the conference’s most efficient front court players, consistently ranking among the league’s best field goal shooters.

The Newcastle Basketball community looks forward to welcoming Trace back home as he begins the next chapter of his basketball journey in Falcons colours.
