The Newcastle Falcons are excited to announce the return of home-grown talent, Ryan Beisty, for the 2025 NBL1 East season and beyond.
Selected as a member of the NBL1 East All-Star Five in 2022 and 2023, the 6’7 forward had another standout season in 2024, averaging 14.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2 steals per game.
Beisty played all his junior basketball in Newcastle before furthering his development in the US college system at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He had a professional stint with the Plymouth Raiders in the British Basketball League, prior to returning to Newcastle to join the Falcons in NBL1 East.
Falcons Men’s Head Coach Josh Morgan expressed the Club’s excitement at securing the talented local early in the offseason.
“We were obviously keen to get Ryan signed as early as possible and are happy to have him for at least the next two seasons,” said Morgan. “Our coaching staff has a good working relationship with him, and we look forward to building on that even further.”
Ryan’s commitment to improving his game both on and off the court has not gone unnoticed. “He works incredibly hard on his game, both at our practice and on his own. He is improving his leadership, especially vocally at practice, and we will continue empowering him to do that,” Morgan added.
In addition to his individual growth, Ryan plays an important role in supporting the Falcons’ juniors. “He works with a lot of our junior players, which is another positive for our Club.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Morgan emphasised the importance of Ryan’s all-around game. “We’ll use Ryan’s strong capabilities at both ends of the floor, and we hope we can help him have a bumper year individually, which will ultimately help our team’s success.”
For Beisty, he’s excited to continue playing for his home Club.
“I really enjoy playing for the Falcons,” said Beisty. “It’s great to be able to play with mates and guys who I grew up playing with where everything is really familiar.”
Beisty is proud to be part of a Club with strong pathways, which allows players to grow from grassroots to elite levels. “The community is really great here. You’ve got a Club where kids can go from U/12’s all the way through to the NBL1 level and be able to aspire to that and beyond,” he added.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Beisty is focused on the team having a successful year. “The goal every year is to win, so we definitely want to take another step forward towards finals. We have a good core group and coaching staff, so I think we can do some really positive things this year,” he said.
In terms of his personal goals, Beisty is aiming to continue growing as a leader and making strong contributions across all areas of the game.
The Falcons men and women will play their 2025 season home opener on Saturday 29 March against the Sydney Comets at Newcastle Basketball Stadium. See the full 2025 NBL1 East Draw HERE.
