The Newcastle Falcons are excited to announce the signing of E.J. Stephens for the 2025 NBL1 East season. Stephens is a dynamic 6’3 guard, who brings a proven scoring ability to the Falcons’ back court.
The Florida native enjoyed a standout collegiate career, spending four seasons at Lafayette College, where he averaged an impressive 16.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game during his senior year.
Stephens capped off his college career with a final year at the University of Minnesota in the Big 10 Conference. As a starter for the Gophers, he was a key contributor averaging 33 minutes a game and scoring 10.5 points per game, while shooting 42% from the field.
In addition to his collegiate career, Stephens has also gained international experience, playing for the Cheshire Phoenix in the British Basketball League.
Falcons Head Coach, Josh Morgan is looking forward to welcoming E.J. to the Club and believes he will bolster the team’s backcourt.
“We’re thankful E.J. has committed to playing with the Falcons this coming season,” Morgan said.
“After watching a lot of footage of E.J. and countless other candidates, we feel he will bring scoring consistency to the wing position and add another scoring option overall to our group.”
E.J. previously played alongside fellow Falcons Myles Cherry and Leo O’Boyle at Lafayette which will contribute greatly to the team’s chemistry as they prepare for a successful 2025 NBL1 East campaign.
“We were able to obtain some personal references about him, which is also pretty important when bringing players in from the other side of the world,” Morgan added.
“We feel he will fit in well from the get-go. He has a familiarity with a couple of members of the playing group and we are hopeful that continuity will bring success on court.”
