Jefferson Joins the Falcons in 2025

The Newcastle Falcons are excited to announce the addition of Meg Jefferson for the 2025 NBL1 season.

The 6’3 forward is currently playing with the University of Canberra Capitals in the WNBL alongside fellow Falcon Nicole Munger.

Jefferson has an impressive basketball background, starting as a junior where she represented NSW Metro at national tournaments from U16 to U20. After high school, she accepted a scholarship to the University of Virginia (UVA), competing in the ACC. During her time at UVA, she earned the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Award for her dedication and sportsmanship.

Following three seasons at UVA, Jefferson spent time at the University of Hawaii before returning home to attend the University of Sydney, where she played for USYD in the University Basketball League while also completing a Master’s in Sustainability.

Jefferson also competed in 3×3 basketball with Sydney University, helping her team win gold at the Oceanic tournament and secure a spot in the World Championship in Doha.

Last season, Meg played in the NBL1 East for Hills, averaging 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 43% from the field.

“It’s exciting to have Meg join Newcastle for the 2025 season,” Head Coach Kristy Bultitude said.

“She brings a wealth of experience and an ability to add to the shooting depth that we have already.”

“Meg is an athletic forward who will complement our playing style. Her ability as a strong rebounder will strengthen our defensive end, and her established connection with teammates from the WNBL season is an added bonus.”

Catch Meg and the Falcons in action during their first home game of the 2025 NBL1 season on Saturday, March 29, against the Sydney Comets.
