Dear City of Newcastle Councillors,

It is my understanding that this coming Tuesday 29 October a motion has been proposed for you to consider which effectively removes council support for Newcastle Basketball’s proposal to construct the Hunter Indoor Sports Centre at a site in New Lambton.

As a passionate member of Newcastle Basketball, I wanted to provide you with this letter requesting that you do not support this motion, but allow the State Significant Development Application process to consider the merits of the site on the basis of all of the information that is presented in this application.

I believe that our region desperately needs a new indoor sports facility like the one proposed, not just for Basketball, but for all of our community to enjoy for many generations to come.

Supporting this motion will at worst remove any chance we have of this much needed facility ever being available for our region, and at best delay the availability of it for many years to come.
I urge you to consider these outcomes when deliberating your decision.
