To address feedback and continue the success of our Premier Division in Summer 25/26, we have made some changes to the structure of the Junior Winter Competition with the aim to improve fairness, competitiveness and enjoyment for all players – introducing the Premier Division for Winter 2026!
- Premier Division (FAQ’s below): All 2026 Representative Players, being those that have been selected in representative teams by Newcastle Basketball, or another association, will be required to play in the Premier Division. This is with the exception of U18 Representative Girls who will participate in the U23 Women’s competition.
- Division 2: Falcons Academy players will be required to play in Division 2 of the Junior Winter Competition.
- All players will register as individuals directly with their Club. Players will then be placed in teams with further information provided by the Club.
- Waitlist: Registrations may fill quickly. If your preferred age group is at capacity, please reach out to your Club to confirm your interest and be placed onto the appropriate waiting list.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Premier Division:
- The Premier Division will be open to ALL 2026 Falcons Representative Players who will register and represent their club.
- Players will be drafted into teams and will wear their Club singlet. One team will wear the coloured side of their jerseys, and the opposing team will wear the white side.
- To ensure balanced and competitive teams, players will be drafted by the Association in consultation with the Head Coach of each Representative age group. Players will be allocated based on their position and age, with consideration given to their representative team allocation to ensure an even mix of athletes across teams.
- Division 2: ALL 2026 Falcons Academy Players and Representative players from other Associations will be required to compete in Division 2.
- Division 2 is also open to non-academy and non-rep players. Clubs may run grading days to allocate players. Please contact your Club directly for more information.
- Clubs will allocate players to teams in all divisions based on age, skill and positions. Friend requests will only be considered for Divisions 3 and lower.
- Club Transfers – as rep players will be drafted into teams, there is no requirement to apply for a transfer between Clubs. We encourage players to remain with their 2025 Club so all Clubs are represented fairly in each age group.
